About the Painting: "Cliff Dweller"
Angela Bawden’s Cliff Dweller portrays a majestic Bighorn Ram, a male sheep that embodies a captivating duality:
Gentle Nature vs. Raw Strength: The ram symbolizes both the tenderness often associated with sheep and the fierce determination of rams.
Impressive Horns: Spiraling horns, composed of keratin and bone, signify the ram's connection to the spiritual realm and the cycles of life, while serving as a powerful tool for protection.
Symbolism and Inspiration:
Balance and Agility:
The ram’s remarkable ability to navigate rocky terrain with surefooted grace is inspiring. It naturally seeks precarious cliffs, relying on even the smallest ledges for secure footing. This evokes the concept of being "sure-footed," a reminder of the importance of stability in life.
Strength and Determination:
Resembling a "battering ram," the Bighorn Ram symbolizes the courage and confidence needed to overcome obstacles. Its presence encourages us to move forward fearlessly, knowing we can conquer challenges with determination.
The Ram as a Symbol of Strength and Renewal:
The Bighorn Ram embodies vitality, fertility, and fearlessness, representing the Sacred Masculine—a force of unwavering principles and determination. Reflecting on this painting invites us to connect with the aspects of the ram spirit that resonate most deeply with our own lives, empowering us to approach tasks with renewed vigor.
A Beacon for New Beginnings:
Both the sheep and ram symbolize potential for new beginnings. If you ever feel lost on your spiritual path, the ram serves as a guide to help you reclaim your core values and rediscover your direction. Even if you’ve strayed, the ram reminds us that it’s never too late to turn around and find the way back—just like navigating the wilderness with the help of way-markers.
